The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission, BASIEC has said that one billion naira has been budgeted for the conduct of 2022 local government elections in the state.
BASIEC last conducted local government elections in October 2020 where the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP won all the chairmanship and councillorship seats in the state.
Alhaji Dahiru Tata, Chairman of the Commission stated this when he appeared before the Bauchi State House of Assembly’s Committee on Electoral Matters to defend the 2020 budget of the Commission.
Globe FM reports that the proposed budget is meant to help the Commission keep to its mandate of spearheading the conduct of local government elections after every two years in the state.
