Bauchi APC Cautions Residents Against Joining Protest

The Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the residents of the state not to participate in the upcoming nationwide protests.

In a press release signed by the State Chairman of the party Muhammad Hassan, APC emphasised the importance of maintaining the peace and stability that Bauchi has enjoyed, arguing that the potential dangers that such protests could bring can be more.

Hassan stressed that Bauchi is the most peaceful state in the Northeast and that joining the protests could jeopardize this peace.

“Forewarned is forearmed,” he stated, urging residents to heed the advice of security agencies, religious leaders, and traditional authorities who have all cautioned against involvement in the protests.

“Our security agencies, who know better, especially the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services and the Military have all warned that
undesirable and foreign elements are drafted to take advantage of the proposed protest in order to cause chaos in our country to which Bauchi State is an integral part.

“Accordingly, the security agencies are cautioning us against partaking in this protest. Similarly, our religious leaders, traditional leaders,
statesmen and wise men and women all over the country have cautioned us against joining this protest,” the statement read in part.

Hassan highlighted the lessons learned from other nations that have experienced violent protests, as well as the devastating impact of the EndSARS protests in Nigeria.

The party urged the state government to proactively ensure the security of lives and property and warned that the peace, security, democracy, and territorial integrity of the nation are at stake.

Furthermore, APC called on all citizens to be vigilant and reject any actions that could disrupt the tranquillity of the state.
