Bauchi APC Crisis: Court Stops Misau’s Inauguration As Chair

A High Court sitting in Bauchi State has granted an interim injunction restraining Babayo Aliyu Misau from being inaugurated and parading himself as the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state alongside other executives pending the hearing and determination of the motion already before the court. 

The suit, No: BA/325/2021, was instituted by Hon Sanusi Kunde, Sarkin Noma Adamu, Dr Auwal Mohammed, Idris Buba Idris and Alhaji Hassan, as plaintiffs.

According to the court order obtained by Daily Trust on Tuesday, the chairman of Bauchi State APC Stakeholders’ Forum, Sarkin Noma Adamu and others had gone to court to express their displeasure over the announcement of Misau as party chairman in the state. The court order granted by Hon. Justice M. A. Sambo, also listed the APC at the national level, chairman of Bauchi State APC Screening and Selection Committee, the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, and Jibrin Danga as defendants.

Daily Trust reports that Misau and Sanusi Aliyu Kunde, emerged as parallel state chairmen of the party at the October 16 state congresses, but the selection committee announced Babayo Misau as the authentic state chairman.
