Bauchi APC Decries ‘Broad Day Robbery’ On BAHA Members

The Chairman of the All Progressive Congress(APC) Bauchi State Chapter Babayo Aliyu Misau vehemently condemned hoodlums’ attacks on members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, BAHA. 

The Chairman described the attack as intimidation, and victimization of the legitimate functions of the lawmakers. 

Mr. Babayo said this during a press briefing in Bauchi.

 To him,  Bauchi APC looks at the act of the attackers as great indignation and dismay over the broad day robbery of Democratic freedom, a flagrant violation of the rule against some of its members. 

“following the passing of Vote of No Confidence on the leadership of the Bauchi State House of Assembly by a majority of the legislators on 1 st July 2022 a group of armed youth in high number were sent to attack the legislators at the Bauchi House of Assembly on 4th July 2022 adding that upon useful hints, the Honourable members of the state legislature decided to converge at the legislative Guess House at sir Kashim Ibrahim Street GRA Bauchi where they were finally attacked by the armed youth,” he said.

The Chairman lamented how about six Honourable members were beaten and injured, the threat of murder and intimidation, their official and personal vehicles were destroyed in addition to their phones and other personal valuables were carted away by the youth, and the guest house was destroyed severely.

WikkiTimes recalls that 22 members of the Assembly demanded the immediate resignation of the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Abubakar Sulaiman and other top-ranking officers of the House or be they be impeached. A gang of hoodlums had earlier attempted to set the Assembly’s complex on fire only to be deterred by the police. Again, the lawmakers were attacked by unidentified hoodlums while they were having a meeting last Tuesday in Bauchi.
