Bauchi APC Secretariat deserted, now a ghost of former self

What was a busy place regardless of the time of the day or night particularly in the build up to the last general election has now become a ghost of former self.

The All Progressive Congress, APC secretariat in Bauchi state was a bee-hive of activities in the build up to the 2019 elections—housing all kinds of political power brokers from across nook and crannies of the state. It was also secured by heavily built and well armed mobile police officers during the elections period.

But the APC Secretariat in Bauchi is now deserted—left with only a guard man to secure its premises.

When the party was in power, the secretariat located along Maiduguri Bye-pass was a bottleneck of some sort, causing heavy traffic for commuters and passersby due to influx of people and party stakeholders

That is no more—motorists move on the road freely.

The security guard (who’s Identity time and date of interview concealed because he was not authorized to talk) confided in this reporter that the secretariat is always under locked and key.

“It’s only the security guards that are here most of the time; you hardly see any official of the party here.

“The last time we had a busy day at the Secretariat in recent times was the day the elections petition tribunal in Bauchi gave the verdict that dismisses the petition filed by the party.

“We were hoping to win the case, but it turns out the other way”, the security guard told WikkiTimes.”

The 2nd Party office

Asked whether he was being paid salary since the party lost elections in the state, the security guard smiled and walked away.

Several calls and text messages put to the Party Chairman Uba Nana were neither answered nor returned.

During the election, WikkiTimes undercover investigation had exposed how the party lured some domestic civil society Organizations who were paid between N100,000 to N250,000 to compromise the standards of the elections.

WikkiTimes had during the undercover investigation captured still pictures, audio and Video clips which exposed a high ranking official of the All Progressives Congress APC in the state screening the observers a day to the governorship election, a prerequisite for the payment to get them compromised the elections.

That has all gone—the officials no longer visit the two party offices in the state since it lost the governorship election.
