Bauchi Assembly Accedes To Rural Roads For Katagum, Alkaleri LGs

The Bauchi State House of Assembly BAHA has requested the executive arm of the state to construct the feeder roads in some rural areas in Katagum and Alkaleri Local Governments to diversify socioeconomic development in the state.

Leading debate on the motion on Tuesday, Hon. Ali Dan’iya explained that the Local Government is agrarian in nature, stating that 90% of its land can be cultivated for many crops to grow while many roads are inaccessible.

He noted that some of the most dangerous but short roads are Chinade-Gambaki, Charachara, Ragwam, and Lafiya-Gwasamai roads which are economically viable and socially friendlier, stressing that the roads constructed in the Local Government did not extend to other towns and villages that are populated by farmers and cattle rearers.

In his contribution, Majority Leader Hon. Tijjani Muhammad Aliyu (Azare Madangala Constituency) commended Hon. Ali Dan’iya for raising the motion, reaffirming that all the areas mentioned are agrarian and a lot of farms produce come from the areas but they are facing serious problems of access roads.

He called on the government to concentrate on constructing feeder roads in rural areas, instead of putting everything in urban areas.

Similarly, the house moved a motion calling on the State Government to construct a bye-pass, feeder road and electricity in some villages in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.

The member representing Pali Constituency, Hon. Yusuf M. Bako moved the motion, stating that it meant to alleviate the hardships encountered by people of his Constituency whenever they want to access the headquarters of the Local Government.

He noted that Bauchi-Alkaleri Highway is the major route linking commuters to Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba States and motorists find it difficult to pass due to hold-ups, especially on market days.

Hon. Yusuf  Bako, therefore, requested the House to call on the State Government to construct a by-pass road in Alkaleri town, construct in Bayan Banki Alkaleri, Unguwar Sarkin Fawa, Panti-Doka-Buriburi-Bakin Kogi,

Others are, the construction of feeder roads and electricity in; Guma-Bada Koshi-Monna-Gangar-Gyangyan-Guruntum-Yalwan Darazo-Bartak, Farin Ruwa-Nassarawa-Unguwar Karshi-Gyar-Ranga-Kaciciya-Gar, Mai’ari-Garfatu-Kwaimawa-Maimadi-Shugu-Lariski and Alkaleri-Kufa all in Alkaleri Local Government.

After the Honourable House unanimously approved the motions, the Speaker directed the Clerk to communicate the resolution of the House to the Executive Arm of the state.
