Bauchi Assembly Passes Infrastructure Development Agency Bill Into Law

Bauchi State House of Assembly has passed the bill for the establishment of Bauchi State Infrastructure Development Agency Law 2021, into law.

Hon. Yusuf Inuwa Dadiye representing Ganjuwa West Constituency, the Chairman House Committee on Works and Transport – the Committee mandated to supervise the passage of the Bill – presented the report to the House on Wednesday.

The Committee’s report, however, recommended the inclusion of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in addition to National Road Transport Owners in the establishment of the Board members of the Agency.

After the Honourable House adopted the recommendations of the Committee, the Majority Leader of the House Hon. Tijjani Muhammad Aliyu moved the Bill to undergo the third reading, which the House approved, and accordingly, the Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to carry out the third reading.

The Bill for the law to establish Bauchi State Infrastructure Development Agency Law 2021, is therefore passed into law by the House on Wednesday 23 February.

The Infrastructure Development Agency has a sole mandate to provide a wide range of services to support all the state government’s initiatives to modernize and maximize the value of public infrastructure.

It will also focus on the delivery of new infrastructure projects and on how to drive utility out of existing assets.
