Bauchi Budget Commissioner: 2020 budget will be legal, realistic

Bauchi State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Aminu Hassan Gamawa said the state’s 2020 budget will reflect the economic realities and will be anchored within the spectrum of accountability and transparency.

Dr Aminu Gamawa gave the assurance while interacting with members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Budget and Appropriation.

In a statement made available to newsmen through his media aide Muslim Lawal, Dr. Gamawa said “recently I have the opportunity of having some conversation with his Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, during the discussion he encourage us to do the budget in a legal way that will ensure transparency and accountability in line with global best practices”.

The commissioner said his principal has assured on equal distribution of projects across nook and crannies of the state.

Dr. Gamwa said the state’s executive council will defy “copy and paste or putting projects without resources of executing them”, which he says has been the norm in the past.

The commissioner vows that the 2020 budget “was designed based on reality”, adding that whatever is put in the budget would be implemented.

Gamawa said his ministry was ready to ensure compliance with appropriation laws, noting that, the time for conflict between the executive and legislature was over.
