Bauchi State Government said it is committed to returning out of school children in the state back to class.
The State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Jamila Muhammad Dahiru, disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting in Bauchi. She emphasized that the issue of out-of-school children remains a top priority for the Ministry.
The Commissioner expressed concern over the alarming figures being circulated, which she argues do not accurately reflect the situation in the state.
“The figures being peddled by various sources have been worrisome and have kept us on our toes as we work to combat this menace,” she said.
Dr. Dahiru assured that the Ministry is committed to working tirelessly to understand the root causes of the issue and to address the situation effectively.
She also emphasized the importance of verifying the figures reported by UNICEF and other organizations.
The Commissioner announced that the meeting brought together various agencies and stakeholders in the education sector, who reached a consensus on the best approach for Bauchi State.
This includes the need for accurate and unbiased data collection to prevent the spread of misleading information about out-of-school children in the state.
