The Bauchi State Government has denied having plans to close all Primary Health Care Centers (PHC) over an alleged threat by the organisers of the national hardship protest to attack the facilities.
WikkiTimes reports that the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Board raised the alarm over clandestine plans by the protesters to siege PHC facilities during the August 1st planned protest. Also, the Board said it will shut down all PHCs in the state to avoid recording damage to health workers, patients and medical equipment.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday during a press conference at the Government House Bauchi, Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Kashim said all PHCs in the state will remain open, warning the protesters to stay away from government properties.
He urged the protesters to think twice, adding that the government would resolve all lingering issues to improve citizens’ socio-economic conditions.
Kashim expressed confidence that the Federal Government will soon end the both hunger and hardship currently disturbing Nigerians to improve their living conditions.
He said the Bauchi State Government is not connected with the protesters and completely abhors violence under the guise of a national protest against hunger and economic hardship.
Kashim said that the protest would not take place in Bauchi which is aimed at causing havoc rather than good for the people of the country.
