Bauchi Distributes 20000 Bags of Grains to LGAs

The Bauchi State Government has commenced the distribution of 20,000 bags of grains as palliative across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State.

The Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajia Hajara Yakubu disclosed this while handing over the palliative to the distribution committee in Bauchi.

Hajia Hajara noted that 1000 bags of assorted grains each were handed over to the local government distribution committees for onward distribution to the lest privileged and other vulnerable groups.

In a remark shortly before handing over the food items, the Commissioner, represented by the Director of Administration and Human Resources of the Ministry, Ahmed Haruna, called for equitable and fair distribution of the items to the most deserving beneficiaries in line with the guidelines provided by both the Federal and State governments.

The Commissioner said that the Ministry had put in place an independent monitoring mechanism within the communities to monitor compliance in the distribution exercise.

She added cautioned the local government administrations that Government is determined to ensure that the palliative reach the intended target.

While receiving the items on behalf of Local Government distribution committee, the Heads of Administration in Alkaleri and Kirfi Local Government Areas assured the Commissioner that the committee would ensure equitable distribution of the food items meant for the neediest in their respective communities.

The assorted grains include 25kg of 500 bags of rice, 210 bags of maize, 220 and 70 bags of sorghum and millets for each LGA.

The distribution exercise was conducted simultaneously across the 20 local government areas of the state.
