Bauchi ex-Deputy Director Bags 27 Months Imprisonment For Land Scam

Justice Abubakar Muazu of Bauchi State High Court has sentenced the former Deputy Director of Planning in Bauchi State Ministry of Land and Survey, Ibrahim Aliyu to twenty-seven months imprisonment for obtaining money by false pretenses and cheating.

He was convicted following a two-count charge brought against him by the Gombe Zonal Command of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Aliyu, in May 2015 had allegedly induced one Mustapha Bala to deliver to him the sum of One Million, One Hundred Thousand Naira (N1, 100,000) for sale of a plot of land situated at BSADP Quarters, Bauchi which belonged to His Royal Highness, Usman Bilyaminu Othman, the Emir of Dass, without his consent.

He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced accordingly to three months with an option of N50,000.00. (Fifty Thousand Naira) fine on count one, and two-years imprisonment with an option of N100,000 fine (One Hundred Thousand Naira) fine on count two.
