Bauchi Flood Victims To Get Respite

As floods continue to wreak havoc in Gwaram town of Misau local council, Bauchi State, the government have assured the residents of timely intervention.

Speaking while on a sympathy visit to the affected area, the Chairman Misau LGA, Abubakar Ahmed, said the victims should take the disaster as an act of God, assuring them that the council has notified relevant authorities for prompt action.

According to him, being a flood-prone area, there is a need for the people to always clear waterways and avoid building structures along the passages.

Since the commencement of rainfall this year, the residents of the area have been appealing to the government to help construct the road linking Gwaram to Hardawa and erect drainages to mitigate the impact of water that overflows into the town, destroying houses and farmlands.

The floods which flow through the main road up to the river by the east of the town usually ravage houses and farmlands in the township, a situation which makes the citizens restless when ever it rains.
