Bauchi-Gombe Border Crises Claim Lives Amid Several Govt’s C’ttees Failure

Renewed border hostilities between Gungura community of Ganjuwa local government area of Bauchi State and Buri-Buri of Dukku local government area of Gombe State has claimed several lives, WikkiTimes can report.

Hon Gazali Abubakar Wunti, member representing Ganjuwa East Constituency at the Bauchi State House of Assembly, has lamented how the renewed communal confrontations between the two border communities consume lives and exacerbate economic peril.

He said that at about 3:30 am on Wednesday, assailants from Dukku wreaked havoc on Gungura ward of Ganjuwa local government.

Gazali attributed the imbroglio to the government’s failure to address the lingering border tensions between the communities.

Hon Gazali who stated this on Wednesday under Matters of Urgent Public Importance during the Assembly’s plenary presided over by the Speaker of the House Hon Abubakar Sulaiman said the crisis is a manifestation of the government’s failure to address issues fuelling them over the years.

He queried why the border crises between the communities persisted despite “many committees” set up to look into, and address the matter.

“They have been attacking the people of the area and destroying their properties and now it even includes loss of lives.
