Bauchi Gov Backtracks, Give Reasons Why He Didn’t Probe predecessor

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has backed down from his initial claim to probe his predecessor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar who was indicted by the Bauchi State Asset Recovery Committee which indicted the former governor of looting the state’s treasury.

WikkiTimes recalled that in October 2019, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed had ordered the immediate prosecution of his predecessors, former governors Isa Yuguda and MAAbubakar who were accused of looting properties and assets worth over a trillion naira belonging to the state government during their separate tenures.

Governor Mohammed at the time gave the directives when he received a comprehensive report of the state’s asset recovery committee constituted on 12 July, 2019 and mandated to investigate assets allegedly diverted between 2007to 2019 at the Council Chamber, Government House Bauchi.
The Governor at the time insisted that government officials must remain accountable vowed to recover and ensure prosecution of the ex-governors and their officials that were indicted by the committee.

The governor has now backtracked, explaining that his administration did not waste time in probing the activities of the immediate past government in the state because it is “Allah that probes.”
“It is Allah who probes, we are not going to probe anybody. The projects we are carrying out, we are doing it with little income we are getting, and we have done a lot for our people”,

The Governor who gave the explanation on Saturday when he received the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu and other traditional leaders on a Sallah homage at the government house has now put to rest the idea of probing his predecessor.
