Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has disengaged the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Alkaleri local government, Bala Ibrahim.
WikkiTimes gathered that the governor also sacked the deputy chairman with immediate effect.
Secretary to Bauchi State Government, Ibrahim Kashim disclosed this in a letter addressed to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and dated 6th June 2024.
“You are therefore requested to instruct the officers to handover the affairs of the local government to the Head of Administration,” the letter read in some parts.

Also, Kashim explained that the sacking of the chairman and deputy was based on the directive of the state governor.
However, the letter did not disclose the reason for the disengagement of the chairman, who hailed from the same area as Governor Mohammed.
Recently, Bauchi State House Assembly extended the tenure of local government chairmen by six months. Similarly, Governor Mohammed reappointed Comrade Ibrahim Caretaker Committee Chairman Alkaleri in August 2023.
