Bauchi Gov Sets To Establish Modern Fire-Fighting Station In Azare

The Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad has assured that his administration will soon establish a fully furnished modern fire-fighting station in Azare, Katagum Local government to cover the northern zone of the state.

Bala disclosed this when he hosted stakeholders from Katagum zone for a Ramadan fasting break on Sunday at the Government House, Bauchi.

He stated that he had sent a proposal for approval of the urgent need for the establishment of an Emergency Services Institution to that effect to the State House of Assembly which will take care of the procurement of modern fire-fighting equipment.

The Governor said the State like other states in the country is facing a dearth of modern fire-fighting equipment most especially vehicles.

He said even in Bauchi metropolis the fire fighting vehicles being used belong to the federal government, however, assured that the problem will be over very soon

Bala Mohammed said that being the gateway to the Bauchi State, his administration has earmarked the sum of N300m to upgrade the electricity supply as well as provide streetlights in Azare.

He said despite all odds, his administration will not be discouraged in ensuring that it provided dividends of democracy to every segment of the state, particularly at the Grassroot where the majority of the electorate is based.

The stakeholders included PDP leadership from the zone, political appointees, elected officials particularly members of the National and State Assembly as well as other dignitaries.

All of those who spoke commended the Governor for the provision of social services in the area and assured him that the people of the area will continue to support his administration and remain loyal to the PDP.

It will be recalled Bauchi State House of Assembly resolved to remove the Fire Service department from the Ministry of Works and Transport to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) which is under the office of the Executive Governor.

While the development is coming barely a week after the State Assembly passed a resolution directing the State government to immediately take action to make fire-fighting a priority, particularly in the Katagum zone.
