Bauchi State Governor has suspended the Executive Chairperson, Bauchi State Orphans and Vulnerable Children Agency (BASOVCA), Mrs Hassana Arkila.
A statement signed by the Governor’s media aide Comrade Muktar Gidado said the suspension was with immediate effect.
The statement says Arkila’s suspension was to “allow for proper investigation into the affairs of the Agency following an alleged misconduct.”
“Consequently, she is directed to hand over the affairs of the Agency to the most senior officer in the organization pending the outcome of an investigation that has been instituted by Government.”
Details about the allegations is still cloudy as of press time
WikkiTimes recalled that a pressure group, women coalition for sustainable peace and viable democratic gains in Bauchi State has in February 2020 appealed to the Bauchi State governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir and the anti-graft agencies to compel BASOVCA to distributed the relief assistance donated to orphans by International Islamic Relief Organization, a Saudi NGO.
The group at the time alleged irregularities, saying the agency was not transparent in handling its affairs.
The group spokesperson Fatima Umar at the time said her group received series of complaints from the beneficiaries that five percent was removed from the money meant to support the education of the orphans, allegations she heaped on Mrs Arkila.
Fatima alleged that initiators of the assistance who are Angarar Yuguda and Support Initiative for Vulnerable Children SIVWoC, a non-governmental organization headed by a Philanthropist Hajiya Baheejah Mahmood since 2007 were sidelined by BASOVCA without any genuine and cogent reason.
