Bauchi Government, 20 LGAs received N271.2 billion naira from FAAC in 3 years—analysis

From June 2015 to December 2018, Bauchi state government and the 20 local governments councils in the state have received a total of N271,275,078,000.54 (Two Hundred and Seventy One billion Two Hundred and Seventy Five Million  Fifty Four Kobo) from the Federation Account Allocation Committee FAAC.

A breakdown of the figure showed that the state government alone got N142,656,922,814.40 (One Hundred and Forty Two billion Six Hundred and Fifty Six million Nine Hundred and Twenty Two Thousand Eight Hundred and Fourteen Naira Forty kobo)

The 20 local councils on the other hand received N128,618,155,186.14 (One Hundred and Twenty Eight billion Six Hundred and Eighteen million One Hundred and Fifty Five Thousand One Hundred and Eighty Six Naira Fourteen Kobo as their allocation for forty three

The figure represents the state’s and the LGAs monthly allocation for 41 months and 43 months respectively from FAAC downloaded and analysed from the website of the Office of Accountant General of the Federation, OAGF which publishes allocations to federal, state and local governments in the country.

The allocation of the month of August 2015 which appears contentious could not be added, as the OAGF’s website published 2014 figure for that month for both the state and the 20 LGAs, and July 2016 where the states’ allocation where represented in alphabets-not deducible by this reporter.

An analysis of the disbursement over the period under review showed that the highest annual allocation to the state was in 2018, when it received N54, 020, 849,574.37 (Fifty Four billion Twenty million Eight Hundred and Forty Nine thousand Five hundred and Seventy Four Naira Thirty Seven Kobo.

This was closely followed by the 2017 cumulative allocation, the total sum of which was N39, 515, 179,181.38 (Thirty Nine billion Five hundred and Fifteen million One hundred and Seventy Nine thousand One hundred and Eighty One Naira Thirty Eight Kobo).   

In 2016, the state’s allocation to which the month of July was not added stood at N28, 415,653,732.96 (Twenty Eight billion Four hundred and Twelve million Six hundred and Fifty Three thousand Seven hundred and Thirty Two Naira Ninety Six Kobo), representing disbursement for 11 months.

Similarly, the six months allocation of the state in 2015 was N20,708,240,325.69Kobo (Twenty billion Seven hundred and Eight million Two hundred and Forty thousand Three hundred and Twenty Five Naira Sixty Nine Kobo)-excluding the month of August which the OAGF’s website appeared to have erroneously published the 2014 figures.

The 20 local government councils also got their highest allocation in 2018 of N47,376,885,010.98 (Forty Seven billion Three hundred and Seventy Six million Eight hundred and Eighty Five thousand Ten Naira Fifty Kobo), and N35,612,427,492.15Kobo (Thirty Five billion Six hundred and Twelve million Four hundred and Twenty Seven thousand Four hundred and Ninety Two Naira Fifteen Kobo) in 2017.

It was N28,405,412,397.17Kobo in 2016 (Twenty Eight billion Four hundred and Five million Four hundred and Twelve thousand Three hundred and Ninety Seven Naira Seventeen Kobo) and N17,223,430,285.84Kobo for the last seven months in 2015 excluding the month of August (Seventeen billion Two hundred and Twenty Three million Four hundred and Thirty thousand Two hundred and Eighty Five Naira Eighty Four kobo).
