Bauchi Governor directs Perm Secs to submit conditions of schools across the state

Bauchi state governor Bala Mohammed has directed the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Education to submit the conditions of schools across the state for government’s intervention.

The Governor who condemned the inability of the past administration in the state to revitalize the education sector despite huge Federal Government’s allocations says urgent intervention was necessary to save the sector from total collapse.

Governor Mohammed while at Government Secondary School Zaki, reaffirmed the commitment of the present administration to revive the educational infrastructure with a view to ensuring provision of sound education to students.

WikkiTimes’ exclusive investigations in the education sector in 2018 reveals that although the sector has had huge money accrued to it, budget performance has been very negligible which has deteriorated the sector to a near standstill.

Details indicate that budget performance in the state is very low, largely due to corruption, and misplacement of priorities, but government officials have consistently denied the allegations, citing paucity of funds as reasons.

WikkiTimes investigation revealed that Bauchi state has had over 18 billion allocated to its education sector, but pupils in public primary and junior secondary schools in the state have to buy basic instructional materials required for teaching and learning.
