Bauchi State Government has donated relief materials worth thousands of naira to the victims of fire outbreak at the female hostel, Bauchi State University Gadau, Special Assistant to the governor on new media, Lawal Mua’azu Bauchi has said in a release.
Presenting the relief materials to the victims at the University Campus Gadau, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Social Investment Programme, Hajiya Amina Muhammad Katagum said the gesture was to reduce their hardships.
Hajiya Amina Katagum who sympathized with the victims on behalf of Governor Bala Mohammed, enjoined the management of the university to take necessary action to avert outbreak of such incident in the future.
The Special Adviser assured the management of the university that the state governor will continue to support them so as to realize the set objectives upon which the university was built.
“This administration is committed towards ensuring the development of education sector, governor Bala Mohammed will support you as university management so as to perform beyond expectation”, Amina Katagum has said.
The State Commissioner for Education, Dr Aliyu Tilde called on the management of the university to consider the incident as an act of God.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Auwal Uba expressed gratitude to the state government for coming to the aid of the victims through the donation of the relief materials.
He said the university management will continue to support to enable him succeed in the discharge of his official functions.
