Bauchi state Governor Bala Mohammed has applauded theFederal Government’s approval of five billion naira as 2019 Universal Basic
Education Intervention Programme for the State.The Governor was reacting to the executive secretary of the UniversalBasic Education Commission, Dr. Hamid Boboyi who announced this in aninteractive session with Governor Bala.
Dr. Boboyi explainedthat the fund was part of the Northeast Intervention Initiative.
He said the grants will facilitate the establishment of vocationalJunior Secondary Schools in Bogoro, Katagum and Bauchi local government areas whichwas intended to provide skills training to students.
The State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed noted that thestate government has already mobilized N491 million as counterpart funding aspart of efforts to meet the requirements for accessing the intervention fund.
Senator Bala Muhammad said the intervention will compliment the efforts of his administration in restoring the lost glory of education sector in the state.
WikkiTimes’ investigation revealed that Bauchi state had accessed over 18 billion allocated to its education sector in UBEC grants, but pupils in public primary and junior secondary schools in the state have to buy basic instructional materials required for teaching and learning.
