Bauchi Governor partners NOUN to improve workforce performance

Bauchi state Governor Senator Bala Mohammed said the state government will partner with National Open University to improve productivity and better performance of workers by advancing their education.

The Governor made the remarks when he received members of the University council committee on students’ enrollment.

The Governor said the collaboration with the university was part of measures to address the challenges facing the state civil service.

He informed the committee that his administration was intensifying efforts to ensure improvement in basic education following the collapsed of the sector.

Senator Bala Mohammed who described education as key to societal development, expressed concern over the inability of the past administrations in the state to give the desired priority to the sector.

The team leader of the committee, Alhaji Garba Sani explained that the committee was recently constituted as a result of poor enrollment of its students in the North East North West zones of the country.

The team leader, who said the committee was in the state to seek for stakeholders’ intervention towards addressing the situation, disclosed that in all the 3 study centers of the university in the state, it has only 1082 as registered students.

Alhaji Garba Sani said currently National Open University of Nigeria has 27 study centres and announced plan for the expansion of the centers to each local government areas of the country.

He therefore appealed to Governor Bala Mohammed to support the university in increasing its students’ enrollment for the educational advancement of the state.
