Bauchi Governor says most ghost workers in the state under LGAs’ payroll

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has disclosed the discovery of ghost workers in the state Ministries,  Departments and Agencies.

The Governor while addressing Government House Correspondents said most of the ghost workers were from Local Governments.

Governor Bala who received updates on the state of affairs during a two week long ministerial briefing from all the MDA’s in the state, however, directed the State Head of Civil Service and the State Civil Service Commission to block the leakages.

WikkiTimes recalls that the Governor had on June, 6 revoked all contracts awarded in the State Universal Basic Education sector, citing ghost workers and alleged mismanagement of funds as concerns .

The Governor condemned the bad practice and non adherence to due process by ministries, departments and agencies in the state as he discovered during the briefing.

Governor Bala Mohammed who expressed concern for what he identified as huge challenges facing Health and Education sectors, said contract for the renovation of schools would soon be awarded in addition to recruitment of health personnel.

He regretted that, the health sector was faced with challenges of non functional Primary Healthcare centers and lack of human capital while the poverty has affected the enrollment of children into schools by their parents.

According to him, with the briefing he received from the MDA’s, he would be able to ensure effective implementation of his blue print geared towards providing the required services and infrastructure to the people of the state.
