Bauchi State Government has lamented the inability of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Abuja, to enlists its third coronavirus confirmed case, The PUNCH can report.
The NCDC was reported as saying that as at 12:30 pm on Wednesday there were 151 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria, with Bauchi state reportedly having two confirmed cases.
Dr. Rilwan Mohammed, Executive Chairman, Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency told The PUNCH on Wednesday, that the NCDC was still listing the state as having only two cases instead of three.
He stated that the result of the third case announced by the state government was sent by the NCDC.
When asked why the Bauchi State Government declared a third case but the NCDC is still mentioning two cases in the state, he said, “I don’t know the reason why that is so.”He added, “They (NCDC) sent the result to me yesterday (Tuesday) and that was what we announced to the press.
“It was after they sent the result to me that I informed the Deputy Governor about it and he, in turn, spoke to the press about it.”
WikkiTimes recalls that the Deputy Governor of the state, Senator Baba Tela, had disclosed the third case of the coronavirus to journalists during a press briefing on Tuesday.
Baba Tela was quoted as saying that the third case was a 55-year-old man who had contact with one of the two positive cases in the state.
