Bauchi Bauchi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, public, private and even Federal Government, owned schools across the state.
The Spokesperson, Bauchi State Ministry of Education, Jalaludeen Usman, disclosed this on Sunday night in a statement made available to reporters in Bauchi. He said the decision to close schools comes after “extensive consultations,” security agencies and other stakeholders. He added that the decision, though difficult, was taken to protect students, teachers and learning environments.
“The government is fully aware of the inconvenience this may cause. However, the protection of our children remains our highest moral responsibility. Every student in Bauchi State deserves to learn in an environment that is safe, stable, and free of fear.”
We therefore call on parents, guardians, school proprietors, and all concerned stakeholders not to panic, but to remain calm and cooperative.
“The government is working closely with security agencies to address the concerns swiftly and comprehensively, ensuring that normal academic activities resume as soon as it is safe to do so,” the statement read in parts.
Mr Usman also urged citizens to remain vigilant. If you see something, say something. “Timely information from the public is crucial in safeguarding our communities,” he added.
It would be recalled that Plateau, Katsina and Niger states directed immediate closure of both primary and secondary schools to protect both teachers and students from being target for possible bandits attack.
Also, bandits have, at different times, abducted students and pupils from schools in Kebbi and Niger states few days ago.
