Bauchi Govt Revokes Land Titles In Burra/Lame Game Reserve

The Bauchi State Government says it has revoked land titles approved to individuals or groups at the Lame/Burra Game Reserve in Ningi and Toro Local Government Areas of the state.

Alhaji Dayyabu Chiroma, the Commissioner for Information, made this known while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting on Monday in Bauchi.

Chiroma said the measure was part of the council resolutions to check indiscriminate tree felling, guard against poaching and preserve the ecosystem.

He said that the activities of loggers were deflecting the forest resources while animal species were on the verge of extinction thereby constituting a security threat in the state. “

Wild animals in the reserve are also subjected to untold practices by hunters and poachers, hence the need to check the ugly trend,” he said.

Also speaking, Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, said that the state government had developed Medium Term Expenditure Frame Work (MTEFW) and Fiscal Strategy Paper to achieve sustainable social-economic development.

Hammayo said that Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) had been directed to prepare their 2021 budget proposal on time, to facilitate the transmission of the draft document to the House of Assembly by the end of November.

He said that works on 1,000 houses had been completed across major towns in the state, adding that the committee was mandated to set out the criteria for the allocation of the houses to the beneficiaries. “

Whoever is qualify will benefit from the exercise,’’ he said, adding that the programme was designed to reduce the housing deficit in the state. (NAN)
