Bauchi Gov’t to vaccinate 3.1 million children against Measles, Meningitis

About three point one million children from nine months to seven years of age are to be vaccinated against Measles and Meningitis across the twenty local government areas of Bauchi state.

The exercise which will take place from sixteenth to twenty third of this month, would be carried out by seven hundred and fifty two teams of health workers.

Executive Chairman of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Rilwanu Muhammed made this known during a press briefing, in his office in Bauchi.  

Dr. Rilwanu Muhammed stated that one point three million children were the targeted children for Measles, while one point eight million children were to be vaccinated against meningitis.

He said due to inadequacy of Meningitis vaccines, the antigen would be administered only on children from one to seven years, noting that the campaign was to increase the children’s immunity against the killer diseases.

Dr Muhammed who revealed that the exercise would be conducted in government owned health facilities, urged parents and caregivers to utilize the opportunity provided for the benefit of their children and the families in general.
