A former Minister and Elder Statesman, Alh. Dr. Muhammad Bello Kirfi CON has urged the people of Bauchi State to vote for Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar, the All-Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Saturday’s polls.
The Elder statesman made this call in a statement on Thursday. He said Saturday’s polls will determine the livelihood, security and progress of the state.
Kirfi, who is one of the founding fathers of the state, emphasized the strategic placement of Bauchi State to serve as a gateway to North-East Nigeria.

He urged the people to collaborate to restore Bauchi State back to its glory days through proper management and utilization of human and natural resources such as the crude oil and gas discovered in Alkaleri, unexploited solid minerals, and enormous land for agriculture.
Kirfi also criticized the incumbent government of Bala Mohammed for abandoning its responsibilities in areas of health and education, infrastructure, payment of salaries, pension, and gratuity, to pursue what he described as personal worldly desires at the expense of Bauchi State and its people.
He said the development has resulted in the breakdown of law and order, security breaches, and poor governance.
He alleged that this poor governance also resulted in accessing external and internal debt without the recourse of the executive council and state assembly, disregard for public procurement act law and process, diversion of Local Government Grants, assuming the role of sole approver of sales of government land and properties, and denting the public image of the state through the incitement of falsified information, abusive and violent words to the public as leaders of the society.
Kirfi called on the people of Bauchi State to vote wisely and choose leaders who will be committed to the development of the state and its people. He expressed confidence that with the proper management of human and natural resources, Bauchi State can become a prosperous state once again.
WikkiTimes recalled that Kirfi, a prominent stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was stripped of his title [Wazirin Bauchi] and delisted from Bauchi Emirate Council following a directive from the government. The decision stemmed from alleged disregard for the governor.
