Bauchi NBA Offers Free Legal Aid To Poor Inmates

The leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association in Bauchi State has said that its members give legal aid to poor inmates in various correctional centres who cannot afford to pay for the service.

The NBA however, said it is pursuing issues of human rights abuses vigorously, adding that anybody with a genuine human rights abuse case will get more primacy.

Barrister Jibrin Jibrin, Bauchi NBA Bauchi Chairman, said this when he led other members of the NBA on a visit to the Emir of Bauchi in his Palace.

He said lawyers were determined towards ensuring that people’s rights are protected in accordance with the law practices.

He, therefore, encouraged other lawyers to contribute their quota to the development of the society to ensure that human right is respected and upheld by all a sundry.

He expanded that the long week the courts will be closed saying that the activities will enable them to reflect on critical issues affecting the society and ways of fashioning out and proffer solutions adding that their members will brainstorm and engage in social activities so as to take time off their busy schedule.

Responding, the Emir of Bauchi Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu thanked them for the visit appreciate their efforts and urged them to continue their humanitarian work.

Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu prayed for the successful conduct of the law week and the peaceful coexistence of the state.

He pledged his readiness to continue to give his fatherly advice to the NBA for the development of the state.
