Bauchi Police Apprehends 3 For Raping Minor, Housewife

Mato Yohannah, a 27-year-old Bauchi-based man has been arrested by operatives of Bauchi Police Command for “raping” a three-year-old girl in Jimbin Village in Ganjuwa local council od the state.

Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson, in a statement on Tuesday, said the suspect was arrested on August, 24 2022 by operatives of Ganjuwa Divisional headquarters after he had successfully raped the minor.

“On 24 August 2022 at about 1100rs one Mato Yohannah ‘m’ 27yrs of Jimbin Village, Ganjuwa LGA was arrested by the detectives of Ganjuwa Divisional headquarters after he had canal knowledge with one (sara Ezra), not real name  ‘f’ 3yrs old of Jimbin village, Ganjuwa LGA,” the statement read.

He stated that during the investigation, the suspect confessed to having raped minors for the second time, noting that he will be charged to court for prosecution. 

In the same vein, the police also arrested two suspects for allegedly raping a housewife in Ningi Local Government of the state, according to Wakil.

The police spokesperson said the suspects, namely: Lawali Sule and Babangida Shehu, both residents of Dogon-ruwa village in Ningi LGA, were arrested on August 25, 2022, after they conspired and stormed the house of one Alhaji Gare and raped his wife. According to Wakil, the suspects were armed with Dane guns.

The statement further read, “On 25th Augst, 2022 at about 0200hrs the two suspects conspired among themselves and stormed the house of one Alhaji Gare, all armed with Dane-gun broke into his wife’s room one Hadiza Alhaji (not real name) and asked her husband we’re about, but he was not at home. Thereafter they threatened her with a gun with the view to have canal knowledge of her and she succumbed out of fear.”

Wakil said a discreet investigation was launched while the victim was taken to Ningi General Hospital for medical examination.

According to him, the suspects confessed to the alleged crime, adding that the Dane guns were recovered from them and the state Commissioner of Police, Umar Sanda directed that the suspects be arraigned in court accordingly.
