The Bauchi State Police Command, yesterday, disclosed the identities of the three suspects culpable for plucking the eyes of a 16-year-old boy, Uzairu Salisu.
The 16-year-old Uzairu from Kwanan Gulmammu Jahun, a suburb of Bauchi State, had his eyes pulled out of their sockets by unknown persons on June 24, 2022, according to WikkiTimes report last week.
Uzairu explained how one Ibrahim coaxed him into the bush to carry out a menial job on his farm. Subsequently, the latter used cable wire to strangle him before yanking off his eyes. He would later be found at Dutsen Jira in Yelwa area of the state.
In a statement obatined by WikkiTimes, Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson revealed the identities of the suspects to include: Isaac Ezekiel (32) of Rafin Zurfi, Yelwa, Bauchi Metropolis; Nensok Bawa (38) of Kabwir District, Kanke LGA, Plateau State; and Yohana Luka alias Doctor Samu (52) of Golbong, Amper District in Kanke LGA of Plateau State.
“A prompt search of his (Ezekiel) house by the police led to the recovery of the victim’s eyeballs and more exhibits,” Wakil said. “The two human eyeballs in a calabash, a cable wire used in perpetrating the heinous act and a travelling bag containing some native medicine were found in the house.”
He continued: “Findings revealed that sometime in April 2022, the principal suspect, Isaac Ezekiel, conspired with the two other suspects to conceive the idea to commit the atrocity of getting the eyeballs of a human being.
“On June 24, 2022, at about nine o’clock in the morning, the principal suspect, Isaac Ezekiel, lured one Uzairu Salisu (16) of Jahun, Bauchi Metropolis, into a bush for a casual job on his farm. He then used a cable wire to strangulate him into a coma and used a knife to remove his eyes for a ritual purpose.”
According to Wakil, the prime suspect, Isaac Ezekiel, confessed to the crime.
