Bauchi Police Neautralise Scores of Kidnappers

Police operatives in a combined operation with military and hunters have neutralised scores of suspected kidnappers in Burra Forrest of Ningi local government area of Bauchi State

Spokesperson of Bauchi Police Command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil disclosed this to reporters in a statement on Sunday. 

He said 11 kidnapped victims were rescued, although five out of them sustained various degrees of injuries. 

“Police operatives in line with  Operation Restore Peace (ORP), comprising Police, military and other quasi-security outfits, particularly local hunters on a routine patrol stormed into the kidnappers’ den located on top of the mountain situated at Shande village area of Kurmi, a village at the outskirts of Burra.

“On sighting the team of combined operatives, the kidnappers started firing at the operatives. However, in response, the operatives repelled the kidnappers with superior firepower,” the statement read in parts 

Wakil said the operation lasted for two hours. 

He added that the rescued victims who sustained injuries are currently receiving medical attention at Burra General Hospital.

Wakil said efforts to arrest the fleeing suspected kidnappers are on, calling on the people of the area to report anyone seen with a suspected bullet wound to the nearest police station.

WikkiTimes recalls that, last week, the police in a similar operation, killed five suspected kidnappers after a heavy gun duel in Jama’are.
