Bauchi Police Records Victory Against Terrorists

Police operatives in Bauchi State say they have killed two suspected kidnappers and apprehended eight others in the Alkaleri Local Government Area.

Confirming the arrest in a statement on Friday, the Bauchi police spokesman, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said the raid operation was successful with the rescue of two kidnap victims.

He explained that the syndicate were busted in their enclave around 08:30 pm by a joint team comprising the police and local vigilantes.

“On 14th August 2022 at about 20:30hrs a joint team of police operatives in conjunction with a local vigilante group led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Maina-Maji Divisional Headquarters swiftly raided a suspected kidnapper’s hideout and neutralized two suspected kidnappers,” Wakil said in the statement.

According to him, the arrested suspects include Ali Ibrahim (20), Manu Abdullahi (30), Damina Musa (22), Yusuf Mohammed (32), Buba Abdu (25), Buba Sulaiman (22), Isah Manu (25) and Kabiru Alhaji Sa’adu (26), all residents of the Yelwan Duguri area of Alkaleri LGA.

The statement added that two kidnappers, Abdusalam and Usman Alhaji Dadi, were certified dead by a medical doctor while one of the arrested suspects, Kabiru Alhaji Sa’adu, is recuperating.

“The operation led to the release of one Alhaji Samaila ‘M’ age 70yr-old of Gayar Mukal village of Alkaleri LGA,” he stated. “Furthermore, four motorcycles were recovered as exhibits from the suspected kidnappers and during the investigation, the suspects voluntarily confessed to the crime. Equally, the Commissioner of Police directed that the case be transferred to SCID for discreet investigation.”

Wakil added that in line with community policing and intelligence-led policing, combined operatives confronted some suspected kidnappers at Durr village via Dass LGA.

“Subsequently, the operatives succeeded in rescuing one Hussaina Mustapha Alias “Biyu” ‘f’ aged 45yrs of Durr village unhurt and reunited with her family.

“During the encounter, the suspected kidnappers took to their heels into the nearby bush and the command is intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects,” he said.

Commending the effort of the police operatives, the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mamman Sanda, called on members of the public to continue to cooperate with the police by sharing useful information with the force.
