Bauchi State Government has received five million dollars out of 80 million dollars from the World Bank assisted project for the implementation of Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project in the state.
The State Commissioner for Education Dr. Jamila Muhammad Dahiru disclosed this at a one-day quarterly state steering committee meeting, organised by her Ministry in Collaboration with AGILE which took place at Chartwell Hotel, Bauchi.
Dr. Dahiru reaffirmed state government commitment towards proper utilization of the AGILE fund to achieve the desire objectives.
She said the World Bank assisted Project in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Education is geared towards improving teaching and learning outcomes among girls between the ages of 10 to 20 years.
The commissioner added that AGILE project in the state plans to renovate over 1000 public schools across the state towards strengthening the education system.
She observed that the project will assist poor family who do not have opportunities to send their girl child to schools.
Dr Dahiru charged the committee members to work based on the term and reference of the AGILE project for proper adoption of approved work plan in the state.
In a presentation of 2024, approved work plan, the State Coordinator of AGILE project in Bauchi, Alhaji Ali Sule Gar explained the three components of the project to the committee for proper deliberation.
Bauchi State is among the eleven states selected in the country to benefit from the World Bank AGILE project, aims to boost Adolescent Girls Education.
