A resident of Anguwan Yalwa of Bauchi identified as Isa Muhammad Abdullahi has rejected the sum of N15,250 compensation of his land, describing it as insufficient.
Abdullahi accused Bauchi State government of unfair compensation following a revocation of his plots of land in Kaura New Extension area of Bauchi.
In an interview with Bauchi based Facebook page Labari Daga Bauchi, he decried that the government through the ministry of land and survey had compensated his 3 plots of land with the paltry sum of N15,250.
According to him, he had purchased the plots each measuring 40 by 40 in January 2024 for the sum of N105, 000 from one Alhaji Usman Mai TV.
The aggrieved landowner recounted that of recent, he was informed that the government was about to revoke land ownerships in the area due to a road construction.
“Then two weeks ago, we were told that we were invited by the Ministry of land with our national identity cards, passport photographs and bank account details to apply for compensation,” he narrated.
However, three days later on the 20th of September 2024, Abdullahi noted that he received the sum of N15, 250 only in his bank account as compensation for his plots.
“I rushed to the ministry the following Monday where they confirmed that it was indeed the compensation. Some months ago, those plots were bargained for N400,000 each but I didn’t sell them,” he recalled.
A frustrated Abdullahi said that despite an unconvincing explanation from the Ministry to justify the amount for the compensation, he insisted on refunding the meager amount to the government, adding that he “does not need it”.
“This is why I am here to tell the world and I am calling on anybody with the capacity to help me as I have been treated unfairly,” he added.
