Bauchi: Sharia Commission spends N500,000 to renovate Islamic schools

The Islamic Propagation with Sharia Commission says it has spent N500,000 to renovate three of its schools in selected communities in the state.

Malam Nasir Umar, the Director of the commission, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Bauchi.

He said that the renovation was part of the commission’s efforts to provide an enabling environment for teaching and learning in their schools.
According to Umar, the renovation is meant to promote the quest for both Islamic and Western education.

He said that the rehabilitated schools were located at Kofar Dumi in Bauchi as well as Misau and Babban Buli communities in Bauchi metropolis.

Umar said, however, that the funding of the project was an endowment from individuals and groups.

The director stated that staffers of the commission had visited some strategic markets to enlighten traders on the need to strictly adhere to the full kilogramme measure in their business transactions.

NAN reports that the commission had collected and distributed alms to thousands of beneficiaries, as part of the Islamic economic empowerment scheme.
