Bauchi Speaker applauds traditional institutions for strengthening democracy

Traditional rulers in Bauchi state have been commended for their roles in ensuring speedy delivery of dividends of democracy to their subjects.

The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Abubakar Suleiman gave the commendation on Friday when he led members of the State Assembly on a ‘thank you visit’ to the District Head of Udubo in Gamawa local government area, Alhaji Aminu Malami for conferment of the traditional title of Yariman Udubo on their colleague, Hon. Umar Yakubu (Udubo Constituency).

According to the statement, the Speaker who was received by the people of Udubo, explained that people have utmost respect to traditional institutions, thus they serve as formidable link between the government and the people which strengthen democracy and accelerate development.

The speaker who assured the district head that Umar Yakubu is a dedicated, generous, humble and dependable colleague whose priority is always development of his constituency, said it was not surprising when they received the good news of his conferment as Yariman Udubo.

“On behalf of members of Bauchi State House of Assembly, I extend our gratitude and appreciation to you for this honour to our brother. It’s honour to all members of Bauchi State House of Assembly”. He said.

Rt. Hon. Abubakar Suleiman thanked the District Head for finding their respected colleague worthy of the very important traditional title, assuring that he will impact positively in the District.

In his response, the District Head of Udubo Alhaji Aminu Malami said he decided to honour the Member with the title after considering his contributions toward the development of the State.

He added that the Member is heir to the throne of Udubo, thus the title of Yariman Udubo which was held by his late father suits him and will strengthen the unity of the royal family and Udubo District.
