The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y Suleiman has commiserated with the people of Itas/Gadau Local Government Area over a boat mishap that claimed 18 lives and injured 5 in Buji river.
In a condolence message to the Government of Bauchi State and people of the Local Government, the Speaker described the incident as shocking and unfortunate.
“The deceases who are mostly farmers on their way to farm, are heroes and heroine who died trying to feed themselves and the nation at a time when our country is trying hard to ensure food security.” He said.
Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y Suleiman also described the deceases as promising young men and women who died at time when their communities and the country need them the most and look toward them for a brighter future.
The Speaker urged the family of the deceases and their communities to take the unfortunate incident as destiny from Almighty Allah and submit everything unto Him.
He assured that the State Assembly will liaise with the State Government to come up with measures to curtail the menace of boat mishap in the State and provide humanitarian assistance to the victims.
While praying for the quick recovery of those injured, Speaker Abubakar prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the dead and grant them Jannatul Firdaus.
