Abubakar Y. Suleiman, the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, has heaped words of commendation on his personal spokesperson, Abdul Burra, saying the media aide was very instrumental to his emergence as Chairman, Conference of Speakers of Nigeria.
Mr. Suleiman who recently emerged as Chairman of Conference of Speakers’ stated this when he hosted leaders of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations in his office.
The Speaker said the trajectory of publicity he received within and outside the country courtesy of the professionalism of Mr. Abdul Burra served as impetus to his emergence as Chairman of Conference of Speakers’ of Nigeria.
“I believe my spokesperson is instrumental to my becoming even the Chairman of the National Conference of Speakers.
“Had it been that my colleagues have not been hearing about me and what I have been doing, they would not decide to nominate me for the position,” Rt. Hon Abubakar Sulaiman said.
The Speaker said because of the knowledge my colleagues have about me, refused to succumb to his persistent decline to accept their pleas to become the Chairman of the National Conference of Speakers of State Legislators.
“I was nominated during the meeting of Northern Nigeria Speakers. I declined. I said I am not interested. They asked why, I said I know I cannot do it.
“In Kaduna I was a kind of successful, they accepted my declination. But as God have it, when we met in Abuja and Something happened, they renominated me again,” the speaker said.
In his remarks, Chairman Bauchi State Chapter of the NIPR congratulated the Speaker on his emergence as Chairman National Conference of Speakers.
He called on the Speaker to, as a member of the NIPR, help mobilise other Speakers to join hands for the successful hosting of the 2020 National Conference and AGM of the Institute.
