Bauchi SSA media urges online journalists to focus on nation building

Senior Special Assistant to the Bauchi state governor on media and publicity, Comrade Muktar gidado has appealed to the leadership of Arewa Online Publishers Association Bauchi chapter to use their expertise and professionalism towards nation building.

Comrade Mukhtar Gidado made the appeal when he received in audience members of the association led by its state coordinator Haruna Mohammed salisu in his office.

The SSA acknowledged that online journalism is the latest trend in the media profession globally, hence the need for practitioners to use the opportunities offered by this medium to advance national interests.

Comrade Mukhtar Gidado who promised to work closely with the association, expressed happiness with the caliber of young and vibrant journalists in the state chapter saying he has hope and confidence that quality, truthful and unbiased coverage of events will be their watch words.

Earlier speaking, the Bauchi state coordinator of Arewa Online Publishers Association, Malam Haruna Moh’d Salisu informed the SSA media that the purpose of the visit was to meet with stakeholders like him and to introduce the leadership of the association in the state.

Haruna Salisu said “it is a well-known fact that Arewa in under reported and mis-reported by the western media in all ramifications, adding that, this form the basis for coming together of all online platforms from 19 northern states in order to tell the stories of the region the way it is.

The coordinator also explained that another serious issue the association wants to focus on is the fight the monster of fake news and hate speech which he said has brought so much setback and confusion in this county.

According to him, the membership of the association in the state has clearly stated the seriousness in members to embarked on advocacy journalism for the betterment of the state and the country at large.

He further promised the SSA media of the willingness of members of the association to stick to nothing but professionalism in all their reportage.
