WikkiTimes reports that Gov. Mohammed had earlier disagreed with the recent report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), which ranked Bauchi among the states with high poverty levels. He described the report as a “wake-up call” to address poverty in the state.

“This report serves as a wake-up call for us all, underscoring the urgent need to redouble our efforts in delivering meaningful and impactful projects to our people,” the Governor said.

He said the new minimum wage to be enjoyed by workers in the state was arrived at after series of engagement with labour union leaders.

In addition, Governor Mohammed reiterated his administration’s commitment to clearing the backlog of gratuities owed to retired civil servants, a longstanding issue in the state.

“I remain fully committed to addressing the backlog of gratuities owed to our retired civil servants. I sincerely appeal for their continued patience and understanding as we work diligently towards resolving this longstanding issue.”
