Bauchi to Establish Agency for Border Communities Devt

Bauchi State Government has said that it would establish an agency for the development of border communities in the state.

The State Deputy Governor and Chairman of Boundary Commission, Muhammad Auwal Jatau made this known when he led a sensitization and enlightenment campaign to some LGAs on state borders in Bauchi North zone.

Jatau said the move aims to provide social amenities to the rural communities in all the affected local governments that shares boundaries with neigbouring States.

He said the rational behind of this campaign is to address boundary disputes through tracing and demarcation of boundaries, ultimately finding lasting solutions to the challenges.

The Deputy Governor through his Special Assistant on Boundary Matters Alh. Ahmad Garba said establishing the Agency in the state would empower border communities with developmental projects, including Schools, Hospitals, and Electricity among others.

He said Bauchi State Government, under Governor Bala Muhammad’s leadership, has implemented an open-door policy to resolving boundary disputes amicably.

Jatau announced that the Joint Committee from the National Boundary Commission (NBC) will visit the state on January 12th, 2025, for field compilation and additional field exercise.

A Consultant from Bauchi State Boundary Commission, Mr. Moses Garba Ubans, emphasized the significance of understanding the history of the border communities in demarcation.

In their sperate remarks, the Deputy Chairpersons of the affected Local Governments commended the Commission’s efforts and promised to work toward addressing boundary disputes in their domains.

The Sensitization Campaign Team was also at Warji and Ganjuwa Local Governments on a similar purpose.
