Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Abdullahi, Chairman, Federation of Tree Planting and Plastic Cycling of Nigeria says his Association has 10,000 tree seedlings in Bauchi State to help fight desertification.
The Chairman, in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Bauchi, said the move was part of the association’s resolve to help states deal with encroaching desertification.

He said the association has so far donated 360,000 tree seedlings to check desert encroachment, especially in the north.
Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Abdullahi who is also the Sarkin Itatuwan Bauchi said the seedlings were valued at over N100 million.
Sadiq said the resolve to donate seedlings was in fulfilment of his campaign promises as Chairman of the Association.

Desertification continues to wreak havoc in the state, including incessant flooding.
In 2021, floodings killed 20 persons and destroyed property worth over N1b. Floods were recorded in 19 local governments of Bauchi State with 27 bridges collapsed and 47 culverts washed away.
