Bauchi Varsity Matriculates 5, 896 Students

Bauchi State University Gadau (BASUG) has matriculated 5, 896 newly registered students for 2018/2019 academic session.

Speaking on Thursday during the matriculation ceremony of the new students admitted into social and management sciences faculty of the University held at Yuli campus in Bauchi, the Vice Chancellor Professor Auwalu Uba explained that 16, 908 candidates applied for admissions this year out of which 6, 353 were admitted into the various programs spread across the three operational campuses.

He said of those 6, 353 students, 5, 896 have registered urging the students to consider their gaining admissions into the University as great achievement in view of the number of applications received by the institution and study hard in order to excel in their academic pursuits.

” Matriculation confers on the participating students candidates, full membership of the institution having fulfilled all necessary requirements. Flowing from this, every matriculated student is entitled to all rights and privileges recognized by the University which include right to access information in the library and enjoyment of all available teaching and learning facilities in the University”. He said

He therefore enjoined them to shun all forms of social vices such as cultism, sexual misbehavior, indecent dressing, examination malpractices, thuggery, fraudulent acts and other nefarious activities while in the school to avoid expulsion.

While delivering a paper entitled ‘Academic Culture Processes and Procedures Guiding Studentship in the University System’, the Guest Speaker Alhaji Aminu Tukur told the students that those who have problems such as ill-health, financial difficulties could defer their admissions on payment of non refundable fees.

He said students can have their courses changed where they could not register for them due to observed deficiency, withdrawal on academic ground and interdisciplinary transfer due to low performance.
