First of all, it’s time to say ‘NO’ to this long political and sectional division between the two zones with no legitimate history. With utmost respect to our parents, political and traditional leaders to whom the birth of our great state was welcomed, they are the ones who conceptualized this negative bigotry and animosity in our midst due to their human weaknesses or let me say ‘political differences’ if calling it ‘personal interest’ sounds too offensive.
This longest feud, of course, has a history but that doesn’t necessarily mean it will continue to be the same way.
It’s no more an anomaly for Dan Bauchi to oppose anything that comes from Dan Azare and vise-versa.
Pathetic as it is, when it comes to choosing political leaders, Dan Bauchi will hardly support Dan Azare no matter how competent the candidate is. So also in Misau. Dan Misau local government prefer Dan Bauchi than Dan Azare. Come on! See how declined we are in reasoning.
Is it not a shame for us to give preference to our interests than our state? Instead of us to elect leaders, we end up electing supremacists. We based our eccentric ideas of electing leaders on selfish interest, tribalism, sectionalism and all other -sms we can remember. Self-interest!
We claim to be educated while we don’t navigate our education to a right course. We should stop deceiving ourselves by calling ourselves “Educated People” but rather “Knowledgeable People”. For education, is different from knowledge.
When you are educated, you are expected to behave in a different way, your moral standard should be an exemplary one.
When you are educated, you are expected to do right thing not what is popular. But if you cannot do what’s right, even if you are a professor, you are only knowledgeable not educated.
This unfair disparity, is apparently, one of the reasons why Bauchi State is not moving forward and why we are where we are.
If you look at other States younger than ours, there’s absolutely nothing distinctive we can present to them in terms of development. I could remember some years back, when Bauchi State pilgrims flew to Saudi Arabia through Gombe International Airport.
Why? Simply because we didn’t have International Airport then. And Bauchi got their State before Gombe. Kudos to Malam Isah Yuguda, the previous Governor of Bauchi for building an International Airport in Bauchi.
Sadly, even in our Universities (an academic environment), where intellectuals are groomed, they tend to reduce themselves to personal interest.
If Dan Bauchi and Dan Azare are contesting for NUBASS President for instance, ‘yan Bauchi will cast their votes for Dan Bauchi and Yan Azare will vote for Dan Azare.
Look at how division blinded our sense of assessments! So are we going to end up like this? Is it not time for us to put the past where it belongs and focus on building our State? With due respect to our parents and our leaders, we are not praying for you to stand before Allah in the day of judgement, answering questions about this division.
But honestly speaking, you people did not build a State but rather ‘HATRED’ between us.
However, in the Ministries, Agencies, Boards and Parastatals. When Dan Azare is heading a department, he’ll try not to see Dan Bauchi coming to his office to seek for help, let alone talk about promotion and vise-versa.
Those of you in the civil service must attest to that. I’m sure, some of the readers might think I have interest or maybe I’m trying to hide under the guise of concern about my State to advance my agenda or to advertise my hidden political point.
Mind you, I’m not a politician and never would be In Shaa Allah. I have no desire to get into politics.
In fact, I don’t have any political idol in Bauchi. But if you find yourself thinking this way, may your hypocracy be multiplied a thousand times. Bauchi is my home town, Bauchi is not only my life but my EVERYTHING.
There’s no single country, city, state or society that progresses without unity. Mention one, if there’s any! Prof. George Clement, a Jewish professor in University of California says in his interview with Fox that “The reason why Jews rule the world is nothing but UNITY”.
So, it’s time to put our differences aside and build our State. We don’t have any place better than Bauchi.
