Benue Varsity Suspends Students for Protesting Non-Payment of Allowances

The management of the Benue State University Makurdi has suspended the 200-600 level students of the College of Health Science over a protest for non-payment of their allowances.

The students had protested on what they called hardship due to the non-payment of a fixed N100,000 allowance earlier pronounced by the governor of the state.

In a statement signed by the register of the University Dr. Mfaga Modum noted that the students were suspended due to their recent protest on Wednesday 25th October.

The statement noted that the suspension of the students was due to their attitude before, during, and after the demonstration.

The register noted that among other sanctions the Medical Students Association has been suspended till further will all suspended students have been asked to evacuate the hostel by 10:00 am on Monday 30th October 2023

The statement also noted that academic activities for the 100-level student shall continue without interruption.
