This young man, Jibrin Ahmad Limi has reinforced the belief that youths can bring desired change in the society when given leadership positions.
Jibrin is 24-year-old. He was appointed as Caretaker Councillor of Burra Ward in Ningi Local Government by Governor Bala Mohammad three weeks ago after the previous Councillor was elevated to Deputy Chairman.
Within three weeks of his stay in office, he touched the lives of the people of his constituency. He is going nook crannies of Burra ward giving water to all through repairing all nonfunctional boreholes. In fact, some boreholes have been nonfunctional for more than a decade, but this young man brought them back to life.
The desire of Jibrin to transform the lives of the people he is representing is enormous. This is evident from his donation of cements meant to repair culverts and drainage in all parts of the ward.
Jibrin is also going place to place to capture areas that need interventions from the government.
Just a three weeks councillor!
This is unprecedented. People lost confidence on Local Governments and their leadership since 2003 when they lost autonomy. In fact, I never thought a councillor in this era can make such difference as Jibri is making. Wallahi ni kam ma I hardly remember councillors exist until this time that Jibrin reminds me of their existence.
Actually, I have never seen any of our representatives from national, state to local government achieving the feats Jibrin has achieved in Burra ward, less than a month of being in office.
Jibrin is now the topic of discussion in the town. People can’t remember any politician who has touched their lives so quickly like him.
This tells you that whatever position you hold, no matter how small it maybe, you can make a difference in similar ways young Jibirin is making. All you need to imvive is commitment, patriotism and ideas.
Jibrin Ahmad Limi is a good ambassador of the youths. He has further proven that young leaders are true agents of change. They have ideas, patriotism and skills to bring desired change.
I hope Governor Bala Mohammad will give youths more opportunities so as to complement his policies and developmental agendas in all parts of Bauchi State.
We should all encourage Jibrin to do more. The Governor and his party should encourage the young man too.
