Gombe state Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has called for provision of new transmission lines and energy diversification amidst the electricity power outage in Northern Nigeria.
Inuwa, who is also the Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, spoke on Monday during a meeting with other Governors and relevant stakeholders to address challenges in the region.
Recall that most parts of Northern Nigeria have been without electricity for 8 days now due to a major disruption and vandalisation suffered by the transmission line.
Governor Yahaya expressed concerns about the power outage, calling for investments in new transmission lines and energy diversification to deter future disruptions.
HE emphasized the need to move beyond symbolic meetings, urging the NSGF and the Northern Traditional Rulers Council to develop practical, results-oriented strategies tailored to the region’s unique challenges.
The Chairman also stressed the importance of unity and collective action, saying the forum under his leadership is committed to charting a cohesive agenda that leverages the North’s potential for sustainable growth and stability.
While acknowledging recent military successes against terrorists and bandits, Governor Yahaya stressed that sustainable peace requires continued collaboration with security agencies and the implementation of recommendations from civil society and regional security committees.
