In what appears as a resurfacing of Boko Haram deadly path, the terror group has released a shocking graphic video beheading innocent people in Gwoza area of Borno State.
The almost six-minute video showed some members of the terror group justifying their despicable act and claimed that the victims were part of those supporting those responsible for attacking and killing their members.
In the video, at least four people had been brutally beheaded which were believed to be part of recent victims of abduction by members of Boko Haram in Gwoza.
The resettled communities in and around Gwoza LGA have been encountering attacks from the Boko haram terrorists recently, which is eroding the newly found peace in the state as communities continue to live with fear of attack by the insurgents.
In the released video clip, which has been carefully edited with a background sound and imposed flags of seven different countries including Russia, Israel, and Nigeria dropping into a burning flame, the Boko Haram terrorists is trying to instill fear among the communities.
One of the insurgents speaking in the video speaks unapologetically about their reasons for executing three out of the six defenseless people in front of them, “Allah has given us the opportunity to capture these people, including old women, men and Red Cross worker, by his grace, we were able to ambush them, killed some of them and here are the remaining ones and we are going to execute them in front of you, mainly to send a message.”
“This is my blood sister, but we will kill her for betraying us by liaising with the military to come and attack us”. These are words of the Boko Haram member who identified himself as ‘Ba Sulhu’ meaning ‘no reconciliation’ and the people standing chants ‘Allahu Akbar.’
In recent years, the Borno state government has continued to resettle IDPs to their ancestral homes, as it resettled about 1,600 household from Bama’s largest displaced camp in August, 2024.
It is important that beyond livelihood amenities, security concern to be a top priority, for the state has on the 29th of June 2024, witnessed a devastating bomb blast, which killed at least 32 people, leaving others injured before the release of this recent video in Gwoza LGA.
The video concludes with the group promising to intensify their attacks under the leadership of a new leader called, “Sheikh Abu Sumaiyya,” stating that, “We will rekindle the hostilities known during the early days of the senseless insurgency.”
